Our Veterans Initiative: Hiring Displaced Veterans and Building a VA Partnership

Why We Started This

Ramar Event Productions was founded as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). Military service shaped everything about how we operate — the precision, the logistics discipline, the refusal to accept failure on event day. But we also know firsthand how difficult the transition from military to civilian employment can be.

Thousands of veterans leave the service every year with extraordinary skills and zero idea how to translate them into a civilian career. Many end up underemployed or displaced entirely. We believe the event production industry is a natural fit for veterans, and we're putting our money where our mouth is.

What We're Doing

Our veterans initiative has three pillars:

1. Direct Employment

We actively recruit and hire veterans for our production crews. Event production demands the same skills the military builds: logistics planning, equipment operations, team coordination under pressure, and flawless execution on a hard deadline. Veterans don't just fit — they excel.

2. VA Partnership Exploration

We are actively exploring a partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs to create a formal pipeline for veteran employment in event production. This would connect transitioning service members directly with paid positions on our crews, with structured mentorship and on-the-job training.

3. Skills Translation Program

Many veterans don't realize their military experience maps directly to high-paying event production roles. We're building a skills translation program that helps veterans understand how their MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) connects to specific positions in our industry.

How Military Skills Map to Event Production

The connection between military service and event production is stronger than most people realize:

  • Logistics & Supply Chain → Load-In/Load-Out Operations: Moving equipment, managing timelines, coordinating multiple teams arriving at the same location — this is what logistics specialists do every day in uniform.
  • Communications & Signal → AV Operations: Radio operators, signal corps, and communications specialists already understand audio routing, frequency management, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Leadership & NCO Experience → Crew Management: Leading a production crew of 10-30 people under time pressure is second nature to anyone who's led a squad or platoon.
  • Equipment Operations → Rigging, Lighting & Power: Heavy equipment operators, electricians, and mechanics transition naturally into rigging, lighting setup, and power distribution roles.

How You Can Help

You don't have to be a veteran to support this initiative. Here's how you can make a difference:

  • Refer a Veteran: Know a veteran looking for work? Send them our way. We're always looking for disciplined, reliable team members.
  • Connect Us with VA Representatives: If you work with the VA or know someone who does, we'd love an introduction. We're actively seeking to formalize our partnership.
  • Hire Ramar for Your Next Event: Every event we produce funds veteran employment. When you choose Ramar, you're directly supporting veteran jobs and career development.
  • Spread the Word: Share this post, talk about our initiative, and help us reach veterans who might not know this career path exists.
