How We Deploy to Rhode Island
Preservation Society properties carry strict rigging, anchoring and load-in rules; we build ground-supported and free-standing systems that never touch protected surfaces. Block Island work is ferry-scheduled with pre-staged kits and redundant spares.
Every Rhode Island build is engineered before it ships: rigging plots, power calculations, wind and weather contingency, permit submissions and venue load-in scheduling are handled by the same team that installs on site. One contract covers design, fabrication, delivery, install, show operation and strike.

Producing Events in Rhode Island: What Actually Shapes the Build
Rhode Island is a small market with outsized production demands. Newport alone concentrates Gilded Age mansions, harborfront clubs and hotels into a few square miles, and nearly every one of them carries restrictions that shape the design before a single fixture is specified.
The mansion venues are preservation-first properties. Attachment to walls, ceilings and historic millwork is generally not permitted, so lighting, drape and floral suspension are carried on free-standing truss and ground-supported structures engineered for the room. Load-in windows are short and often shared with catering, which means our rigging and power passes are scheduled to the minute and struck the same night on many programs.
Waterfront and tented sites at Newport, Jamestown and Watch Hill bring wind and salt into the engineering. Tents get ballast or engineered anchoring appropriate to the surface, fabric selections account for coastal wind loading, and electrical distribution is weather-rated with GFCI protection throughout. Ferry and bridge access to Jamestown and Block Island adds a transport step we plan for rather than discover on load-in day.
Newport runs a compressed season. From late spring through October the calendar is dense and venue availability, hotel blocks and crew all tighten at once, so Rhode Island programs are typically locked six to twelve months out. Off-season corporate and gala work at Providence hotel and convention venues is comparatively straightforward, with dock access and standard building power.
Newport weddings
Mansion and harborfront weddings built on ground-supported rigging that never touches historic fabric, with tented receptions engineered for coastal wind, generator power and same-night strike where the venue requires it.
Providence corporate & galas
Hotel ballroom and convention programs with general session AV, LED and projection, scenic set walls and full lighting — standard dock load-in and building power, with our Connecticut shop two hours away for backup.
